Drinking and fighting lead to police intervention at Kelowna hotel

Kelowna Mounties were called to the Town & Country Motel to assist BC Ambulance Service with a man they believe was assaulted shortly after 10 a.m., Monday morning.

A witness called police after seeing  something happen between a 60 year old man, who had been staying at the motel, with a 39 year old male acquaintance, said said Sgt. Ann Morrison.

By the time police arrived, they were able to recognize  visible signs of injury on the 70 year old man , including minor cuts, scrapes and abrasions on his face and head. They also  recognized that both men appeared intoxicated.

“Police located the male suspect in a parking lot a short distance away from the motel,” said Morrison.

“He was arrested and transported to Kelowna detachment, where he remains in custody while the investigation continues.”

The victim was taken to Kelowna General Hospital where he is being treated for the injuries and to monitor his overall well being.

Police continue to investigate.
