‘Drive to winter conditions’: Fernie Fire Department responds to vehicle rollover

The incident occurred on Highway 3 near Hosmer at around 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 27

The Fernie Fire Department reminds motorists to drive according to winter conditions in light of a motor vehicle incident that occurred near Hosmer at roughly 5:30 p.m. on Jan. 27.

The incident involved a single vehicle rollover down an embankment on Highway 3.

“Fernie firefighters, with support from Hosmer Fire, BC Ambulance Service, and RCMP, gained access to a trapped occupant using jaws of life, cutters, and stabilization tools,” said communications coordinator for the City of Fernie, Wynne Cairns.

The vehicle’s occupant suffered minor injuries, and has been treated and released from medical care.
