Workers at Sylvan Learning Centre got an unexpected surprise Saturday when the driver of a Mazda 3 crashed into the front of the building.

Const. Graeme Greig said that an elderly woman was attempting to hit the brake pedal, but the car accelerated quickly forward instead.

The Kelowna woman was dropping off her visiting granddaughter—who lives in Tokyo—for English lessons at Sylvan.

No one was injured in the incident; however, the building and car suffered extensive damage.

Greig said that no charges have been laid by RCMP.

“I’m going to leave it in the hands of ICBC,” said Greig.
