Terrace RCMP are recommending impaired driving charges after a driver smashed his car into the northwest corner of the Bear Country Inn on 4702 Lakelse Ave. June 5 at 7:45 p.m.
The 51-year-old driver, who provided two breath samples upon arrest and was found to be twice over the legal limit, had hit an exterior concrete block wall of the motel while driving his red 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe.
“The exterior concrete block wall of the building was compromised with several broken blocks and a large crack,” said Angela Rabut of the Terrace RCMP.
“A set of double metal doors were bent preventing access to the electrical room of the motel.”
Police located the driver a short distance from the incident because after crashing into the motel he got up and walked away, said Rabut.
Nobody, including motel staff or the driver, was injured due to the crash.
