Things didn’t go as planned for an Alberta teen driver as he tried to wake one of his passengers.
RCMP report the 17-year-old male from Cochrane was driving a 1985 GMC pick-up southbound Sunday just before 9 p.m. on Highway 97A near Enderby when the truck slid off the road.
“The driver wanted to wake up one of his passengers so he jerked the steering wheel, causing it to swerve,” said RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk.
“The driver lost control as the truck slid on the wet road surface and went down a short embankment.”
The driver was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. He was transported to Shuswap Lake General Hospital in Salmon Arm with a concussion and other unknown injuries.
A female passenger suffered bruises to her arms and legs, and a male passenger received a cut below an eyebrow.
Everybody involved is either 17 or 18 and from Alberta.
The driver was issued Motor Vehicle Act violations of failing to wear a seatbelt and driving without consideration.
