Drivers fined after three-vehicle collision

Three drivers were issued fines in rear end collisions on Hwy. 97A.

Three drivers were issued fines in rear end collisions on Hwy. 97A.

On Sept. 1 at 2 p.m., Sicamous RCMP responded to a report of a three-vehicle collision on Hwy. 97A near Two Mile Road. A northbound pick-up truck had stopped while signaling a left-hand turn. A northbound Honda Civic driven by a 23-year-old Quebec man then rear ended the pick-up truck. A Toyota Corolla driven by a 22-year-old Quebec man then rear ended the Civic. All three vehicles were inoperable from the damage sustained in the collision. Police issued both Quebec drivers tickets for following too closely.

While police were dealing with this collision the driver of a Chevy Cruze rear ended a pick up truck that had stopped in traffic while waiting for the northbound lane to be cleared from the first collision. The 32-year-old driver from Enderby was also issued a ticket for following too closely and his vehicle which was rendered inoperable was towed. Weather and visibility were excellent at the time of the collisions. There were no injuries sustained in either collision.

Impaired driver held

On Saturday, Sept. 2 shortly after midnight, Sicamous RCMP stopped the driver of an SUV on Paradise Avenue. The driver exhibited symptoms of driving while under th einfluence of alcohol which resulted in the officer commencing an impaired driving investigation. The driver failed two roadside breath tests and his license was suspended for 90 days while his vehicle was impounded for 30 days. Police then determined that the driver, a 45 year old Enderby man, was bound by a conditional sentence order in relation to a theft conviction. The driver was held in custody to appear before a judge on Tuesday, Sept. 5 as he was found to be breaching the conditions of the order.

Thefts from marina

Sometime during Sunday night and early Monday morning of the Labour Day long weekend unknown suspects entered a private marina associated to a condo building on Riverside Avenue.

A total of 11 boats moored to the dock were entered, with the thief sorting through the personal belongings that the boat owners had left on board. A small amount of cash and some alcohol were taken.

Police are continuing their investigation which includes reviewing related video from surveillance cameras.
