TRAVEL ADVISORIES remain in place this morning for northwestern highways as winds continue to blow snow.

One advisory is for the stretch of Hwy16 leading west of Terrace to Prince Rupert.

And another one is up for Hwy37 South from Terrace to Kitimat.

Blowing snow is limiting visibility for drivers.

Today’s advisories follow on ones issue yesterday as the full force of a winter blizzard hit the area.

Highways officials were telling people to think twice before venturing out.

Schools were also closed in Kitimat, Terrace, Stewart, Kitwanga and Hazelton.

At least one passenger flight was cancelled from Vancouver to Terrace yesterday and courier planes were also grounded.

Shames Mountain was closed yesterday but is open today.

More snow is forecast today as the temperature begins to climb.

For those who shovel sidewalks and driveways, do it now before warm weather turns the snow into a soggy mess.
