Drop-in fees climb by a quarter

A 25-cent increase to drop-in fees for 2014/15 is proposed in Lumby

Lumby area residents will pay slightly more when just dropping in for recreational programs.

The White Valley Parks, Recreation and Culture Advisory Committee has proposed a 25-cent increase to drop-in fees for 2014/15.

“We have fallen behind in increasing the fees for certain drop-in programs such as swimming and skating,” said director Randal Ostafichuk.

“We have held off on any increase in these fees for ease of payment, keeping the amounts a nice round figure such as $2 rather than $2.17, but it was decided that we were about eight per cent behind the actual increase in costs for these programs.”

Directors agreed to hike drop-in fees by 25 cents to avoid a large hike in the future.

For more most other rentals and programs, costs will climb 2.71 per cent in 2014/15.
