Drug charges laid following downtown Castlegar incident

A 22-year old Castlegar man is facing several drug related charges stemming from a recent incident.

On September 15th at approximately 11:50 p.m., a Castlegar RCMP Officer was conducting foot patrols in the downtown core when he noticed a group of people approach a male and hand him something. The Officer  decided to speak with the group. He learned that the male present was currently on court ordered conditions not to be at the address where he was, and to have no contact with the individual who resides there.

The Officer arrested the male, and during a subsequent search of his person, located a substantial quantity of various suspected drugs.

A  quantity of what is believed to be cocaine was located, Ketamine (suspected), as well as other unidentified prescription drugs which did not belong to him.

Jason Osachoff has been charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking, and 2 counts of Possession of Controlled Substances.

He is also facing 1 count of Breaching an Undertaking.   He has been remanded in custody and will make his next court appearance on September 20.
