An impaired driver had several near misses on Hwy 97 last week before he finally left the road and ended up in the ditch.

Feb. 9 at 10:58 pm police were notified about an erratic driver heading south from Clinton. The vehicle was travelling in the wrong lane, forcing oncoming traffic to veer out of the way. It side swiped a northbound semi truck at Maiden Creek Hill and went off the road. No one was injured.

The local man was taken to the Clinton Detachment, where he provided breath samples in excess of the .08 limit. Charges against him are being recommended for the impaired operation of a motor vehicle.
