Facing drunk driving charges stemming from an incident in Lake Cowichan almost two years ago, Jadyn Richard Mickelow (born 1980) is still going through the court system.

On Tuesday, October 4, Mickelow’s case appeared in court for a trial confirmation hearing, in preparation for a November 7 trial.

The charges stem from an alleged December 12, 2009, incident of drunk driving in Lake Cowichan.

The specific charges against Mickelow include caring for or controlling a vehicle or vessel while impaired, and caring for or controlling a vehicle or vessel with a blood alcohol over .08.

• For allegedly driving while drunk, the case against Daniel Blake Kimmerly (born 1982) made its first appearance at the Duncan Law Courts, Tuesday, October 4.

The alleged drunk driving incident took place July 17, in Youbou. Specific charges include caring for or controlling a vehicle or vessel while impaired, and caring for or controlling a vehicle or vessel with a blood alcohol level over .08.

During a December 6 law courts appearance, Kimmerly is expected to make a plea.

• The driving while prohibited charge against Phillip Michael Defriend (born 1985) was dismissed, during a Monday, October 3, appearance at the Duncan Law Courts. The now dismissed offence date was April 14, 2010.
