The Williams Lake Dry Grad committee is gearing up for another successful and productive year.

Even though the highly successful Dry Grad 2011 occurred just a few short months ago, the committee is busy planning and preparing for next year’s event.

Organizing and hosting an event of this magnitude requires hundreds, if not thousands, of volunteer hours, says Oriena McColl, committee communications director.

“Williams Lake is extremely fortunate, as the community is so very charitable in supporting this worthwhile event,” McColl says. “The local business community is very generous with donations, and every year numerous volunteers donate their time and energy into hosting this occasion. That being said, many more volunteers are needed to assist with the upcoming Dry Grad 2012.”

The Dry Grad committee is hosting its first meeting of the 2011/2012 school year. This is an important meeting for all students, and parents, in grades 11 and 12, as there are several positions to be filled.

McColl says the hope is that there will be parents of students who are currently in grade 11, who will be willing to donate their time to this grad event.

The meeting will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 28, at 6:30 p.m. in the Thompson Rivers University cafeteria.

All students and parents are encouraged to attend; however, this meeting is open to anyone who would like to volunteer their time.

There are often grandparents, neighbours, older siblings, retirees, and many others who donate their services to Dry Grad.   If you would like to volunteer, but are unable to attend this meeting, please call 250-392-7121 and leave your name and number and a Dry Grad committee member will contact you.
