A preliminary count of counter petitions indicates the city will be proceeding with a 10-year lease agreement for property intended for use in the construction of a Ross Street underpass.
As part of an alternative approval process, the public had until Jan. 10 to submit 1,361 counter petitions to stop the city from entering the lease agreement. On Monday, city administrator Carl Bannister said the unofficial number of petitions received was 1,325, adding several will be disqualified for not meeting stated criteria.
More details to come in Wednesday’s Observer.
