The Southern Interior Development Initiative Trust has teamed up with provincial, local government and community donators to support the regionally strategic investment of the North Thompson Agriplex.
Wayne Lippert, Chair of the Southern Interior Development Initiative Trust (SIDIT) last week announced the Trust’s support of the North Thompson Fall Fair and Rodeo Association’s Agriplex Project.
“SIDIT’s objective is to support regionally strategic investments in economic development projects that will have long-lasting and measurable regional benefits for the Southern Interior” said Lippert “SIDIT’s investment has assisted in the purchase and installation of an [the North Thompson] Agriplex building.”
SIDIT has contributed $50,000 in non-repayable funding to the project. The program is also supported by the Southern Interior Beetle Action Coalition, local government, and many area individuals, families and companies.
The press release from SIDIT notes: The North Thompson Agriplex will provide a regional agriplex facility for a large market area from Kamloops to Blue River and beyond. The Agriplex project lays the foundation for future agricultural events, thereby allowing for increased usage of land space and the potential for increased agricultural business revenues such as horse events, livestock shows, trade shows, auctions, and other community events such as concerts. More importantly it provides a stepping stone for a more generalized use of the fairground facilities. This in turn, means increased commercial opportunities for the North Thompson Fall Fair and Rodeo Association to attract new revenue streams thereby strengthening the association’s financial stability and creating an increased demand for agricultural and support services, which will be an economic stimulus for the area.
President Donna Kibble of the North Thompson Fall Fair and Rodeo Association said, “The North Thompson Fall Fair and Rodeo Association Agriplex project has the potential to increase our area’s economic viability and we deeply appreciate SIDIT’s assistance in seeing the project to completion.”
