Larissa Lutijen has been elected as the school trustee for North Shuswap with a total of 71 votes to her opponent’s one.
The result was unsurprising since Lutjen lives in the North Shuswap area and ran an active campaign, while her opponent Karen Peters, lives in Salmon Arm and effectively took herself out of the race by non-participation.
Peters and Lutjen both filed papers very close to the deadline and Peters was encouraged to do so simply to ensure there was representation for North Shuswap when it looked like no one else may step up.
Lutjen will join Salmon Arm incumbents Bobbi Johnson and Michel Saab in winning seats.
For the two Armstrong/Spallumcheen seats newcomer Kelly Rowe garnered the most votes with 1291, followed by incumbent Robert Fowler with 1283.
Incumbent trustee Laurie Myers was defeated, with 1139 votes.
The other seats on the board were filled by acclamation.
