School district trustees paused at Tuesday’s regular meeting to remember one of their own.
Carlin-Sorrento trustee Lisa Rolland, who had been recently elected to a third term on the board, died of cancer Dec. 30.
Board chair Bobbi Johnson noted she was a hard-working person who cared deeply for the welfare of students.
Rolland was a champion of literacy and students who were struggling in school.
A by-election will now be held to fill Rolland’s seat on the board. Nominations will open Jan. 17 and run until Jan. 27.
The election will be held on Feb. 25.
