Masks on and hand sanitizer at the ready, hundreds of local kids hit the streets to trick-or-treat under a blue moon this Oct. 31.
Despite social distancing mandates adding challenges to the celebration, princesses, dinosaurs, and mermaids filled their pillow cases with an assortment of candy this past Saturday.
With masked costumes being of particular popularity this year, participating homes were also required to get exceptionally creative with their candy-handing methods.
In an effort to remain six feet apart, a number of homes throughout the valley created candy slides out of pipes, shooting Mars bars and Sour Patch Kids off railings. Other Halloween participants dropped goodie bags from porches, while a number of homes set up candy tables, eliminating the need for contact all together.
Regardless of the curveballs thrown at families throughout the pandemic, Saturday night surely demonstrated the resilience of the beloved annual dress-up tradition.
