Registration for the Elkford Chamber of Commerce’s Business Walks is now open, with the event set to be held virtually over February.

“The purpose of the walks are for local members of government and Chambers to collaborate together for businesses to talk about current economic challenges, learn more about the businesses operations, size and support businesses needs,” said Shawna Bryant, executive director of the Elkford Chamber of Commerce.

According to Bryant, during the walks, chamber and government members ask questions about the current state of the business, how COVID-19 impacted the business, what support is needed, which methods of communication are best for receiving support, and what challenges the business has faced.

“With 2020 being a very difficult year for so many businesses, the Elkford Chamber would like to hear what challenges businesses faced last year, what supports are needed for your business to thrive in 2021 and want to connect to open up communication,” added Bryant.

“The business walks are not just for large companies, they include non profit organizations, small businesses and home based businesses.”

Following the walks, a report will be completed, sent to businesses, and posted on the chamber site showcasing the averages, stats, and needs from businesses within the Elkford community. The chamber will then discuss the findings to figure out ways to support businesses going forward.

“Key points we took away (from the 2020 Business Walk) as a Chamber is businesses are needing more supports from chamber and district on communication of economic development, economic planning, check in on businesses and support on business resources,” said Bryant, adding that the virtual nature of this year’s event will allow the chamber to connect with more businesses than in previous years.

Registration for the walks is free. Participants do not need to be chamber members, however must have a 2020/2021 District of Elkford Business License.
