The majority of residents on the east side of Prince Rupert, as well as the upper west end, can expect a 15 minute power outage tonight.
The emergency outage is scheduled to take place between 8 p.m. and 8:15 p.m. and BC Hydro said it is an unexpected incident.
“We’re going to do some switching so we can remove a failed voltage transformer out of the Oldfield Substation. Once that is done we will need to put in a new piece of equipment there,” said Bob Gammer of BC Hydro, noting people can expect more lead time to prepare than the outage tonight.
“Once that arrives we will schedule an outage and people will have plenty of notice.”
