Be on the lookout for two trucks
On May 5, Golden-Field RCMP warned residents to be on the lookout for two pickup trucks they believe may be involved in recent thefts and transporting of stolen goods.
The trucks are described as a 2000s model red two-door Ford F-150, and a 2000s model grey two-door GMC Sierra.
Police would like to take this time to remind residents that there are several ways to prevent theft, such as ensuring all property, including items such as bicycles, lawnmowers, chainsaws, and other power tools, are locked up, and that the serial numbers are recorded.
“Thieves appear to be targeting high ticket items, that usually all have serial numbers,” says Cst. Spencer Lainchbury with the Golden-Field RCMP. “Having the serial number available not only helps us with our investigation but with returning the property to the rightful owner.”
Anyone who sees these vehicles or any other suspicious activity in their neighbourhood is asked to contact the Golden-Field RCMP at 250-344-2221 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
Stolen equipment found
Police in Golden recovered multiple stolen items just after 2 a.m. on May 7, after the Canadian Pacific Police observed a vehicle parked the wrong way on 11th Avenue N.
“The CP Police officer contacted us advising that he was stopped with the vehicle, and a number of items were observed in the box of the pickup that seemed out of place,” says Lainchbury.
Police seized several tools, saws, and welding equipment from the vehicle and further investigation revealed that the welding equipment, valued more than $5,000, was stolen from a work site in Calgary.
“This is an excellent example of how a traffic stop for a parking infraction can lead to a criminal code investigation,” Lainchbury said.
The Golden-Field RCMP are still trying to determine the owner of a 2017 Husqvarna power cutter, and are asking anyone who may be missing the item contact the Golden-Field RCMP at 250-344-2221.
Police are continuing to investigate the matter in relation to charges.
Wanted man captured
A 26-year-old male who was wanted by the RCMP has been located and taken into custody. The male was scheduled to appear in court in Golden on May 15.

Fire services called for burnt food
The Golden Fire Department was called on May 8 for alarms activated in an apartment building.
Fire fighters determined that the alarms were activated due to smoke from burnt food.
After ensuring there was no fire, the department ventilated the suite and released it back to the owner.
“The fire and life safety message here it so remain present in the kitchen whenever you’re cooking,” said fire Chief Dave Balding.
