Mission’s Shoppers Drug Mart is one of five stores owned by the Loblaws chain to have an employee test positive for COVID-19 over the past week.

The chain published news of the Mission employee’s infection on Sept. 29, stating the last day they worked at the store was Sept. 16.

“Given the important role we play in our communities, we are prepared for all possible situations, including a positive test for COVID-19 in our stores. In these cases, we work closely with public health and follow their guidance to ensure proper notification of close contacts and required cleaning and sanitization in our stores,” reads a statement from the company on their website.

Three other Loblaws locations had a positive test published on Sept. 28, including Hector’s Your Independent Grocer in Squamish on Garibaldi Way (last day worked being Sept. 23); a Dave’s Nofrills in Dawson Creek on Alaska Avenue (last day worked being Sept. 18); and the Real Canadian Superstore in North Vancouver on Seymour Boulevard (last day worked being Sept. 24).

The Shoppers Drug Mart at Evergreen Mall in Surrey had a positive test published on Sept. 23 (last day worked being Sept. 18).

Another Mission employee of Loblaws tested positive for COVID-19 at the Lougheed Highway Real Canadian Superstore on July 24.
