It’s time to party in downtown Enderby.
The revitalized Cliff Avenue will be the focus of a street party Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“We’re really excited to share the street with the public,” said Tate Bengtson, the city’s chief administrative officer.
The $1.8 million upgrade, which began in April, features new sidewalk and trees as well as seating and gateway structures.
“We’re getting lots of positive comments about it,” said Mayor Greg McCune.
As part of the street party, Cliff Avenue will be closed from George Street to Old Vernon Road.
The event will include entertainment and recognition of the U-16 Storm, which won the provincial fastball championship.
Kids’ contests will be hosted by the Enderby Fire Department while businesses will offer a number of sales.
“We hope people will come down and support the businesses that went through a trying time with construction,” said McCune, who hopes the revitalized main street will bolster the community.
“This is something for the community to celebrate. We’re very excited about the opportunities.”
The second phase of the Cliff Avenue project, from Old Vernon Road to the bridge, will begin in the fall.
