Enderby considering sidewalk signs

Enderby businesses to wade in on debate whether signs, tables, etc. should be permitted on sidewalks

  • Jul. 15, 2011 10:00 a.m.

Feedback is being sought from Enderby merchants who place signs, tables or other items on sidewalks.

The city is considering updating its encroachment policy and has invited the Enderby Chamber of Commerce to gather input from businesses.

“The policy addresses tables, sandwich board signs, and display racks which encroach upon city sidewalks,” said Tate Bengtson, chamber executive director.

“The city is seeking feedback from the business community to consider as part of its process.”

A copy of the current encroachment policy is available for download at www.enderbychamber.com/encroachment.pdf.

A paper copy is available for viewing at the Enderby xhamber during business hours.

The chamber is asking local business owners to review the encroachment policy and submit written comments by 5 p.m. July 27.

Business owners may submit input to comments@enderbychamber.com or fax to 250-838-0123.

Comments will be compiled and submitted to city council along with a summary report.

“This is an opportunity for local business owners, by collaborating with the chamber, to ensure that their voice is represented before city council on an important policy,” said Bengtson.
