It’s a Christmas tradition that brings smiles to the faces of Enderby youth.
On Tuesday, members of Enderby council served up a pancake breakfast to 160 students at A.L. Fortune Secondary, while a meal was provided to 300 students at M.V. Beattie Elementary Wednesday.
“We recognize the need in our community,” said Coun. Raquel Knust.
“This is mayor and council’s donation to our kids. It comes out of our own money.”
Coun. Tundra Baird is responsible for mixing up the batter, while the rest of council does the cooking and serving.
“Brad (Case) is the most amazing pancake flipper. He’s taught us a lot,” said Knust.
This is the fifth year for the Christmas breakfast.
“It’s such a generous thing for them to do and it’s so caring,” said Doug Cumming, M.V. Beattie principal.
“It shows how we work together for the kids.”
