Enderby area residents will dig a little deeper for parks and recreation.
Some fee hikes are included in the new parks and recreation budget for the community.
“The increases that were made were built into the bylaw in 2011,” said Coun. Tundra Baird.
“The increases reflect the cost of living, and in some cases, there were no increase in user fees.”
Adult ice rental has gone from $148 an hour in 2011/12 to $151 in 2012/13 and $154 in 2013/14. School district ice rental has gone from $45 to $46 while drop-in shinny hockey ice rental remains unchanged at $20.
Public swim adult fees continue to be $3.75 per swim while the youth fee has gone from $3.25 to $3.50. The commercial rate to rent the arena (dry floor) has gone from $1,1224 an hour to $1,248 while the roller derby fee climbs from $30.50 to $31.
A 50 per cent discount will apply for arena rentals of seven days or more.
“We want to make it known that Enderby is an attractive and affordable city to host major events,” said Baird.
There are also slight rate hikes for ball diamonds and overnight camping at Grindrod Park when a baseball tournament is underway.
