Enderby officials are undecided on a regional focus on job creation.
The Regional District of North Okanagan is approaching member municipalities and electoral areas to see if a rural economic development function should be established.
“We’re interested but we’re also looking at other angles locally,” said Mayor Greg McCune.
Specifically, the city will meet with the Enderby Chamber of Commerce to see if there are ways to attract new businesses and create employment opportunities for residents.
“Is there a way to do it better?” said McCune.
Expectations established
There are new rules when it comes to certain developments in Enderby.
Council has given three readings to a bylaw that includes policies for detached suites, short-term vacation rentals and marijuana-related businesses.
“The object is to present people with the guidelines,” said Mayor Greg McCune.
“We want to lay out the framework if someone wants to do something in the city.”
