Police in Enderby are asking for the public’s help in identifying an alleged shoplifter.
On Feb. 27, 2013, at around 4 p.m. a man walked into Enderby Jewellers in the 600 block of Cliff Avenue and asked the clerk if he could look at the store’s gold chains.
“The clerk opened the glass cabinets containing the chains and the man requested one be weighed,” said Vernon-North Okanagan RCMP spokesperson Gord Molendyk. “When the clerk was distracted looking for a scale, the man reached into the unlocked cabinet and took a gold chain.
“The clerk returned with the scale, unaware of what had happened, and when she turned to weigh a chain, the man pocketed more jewelry.”
The man left the store shortly afterwards without making a purchase.
Molendyk said, in all, three gold chains valued at more than $2,300 were stolen.
The suspect is described as Caucasian, six-foot-three, 280-pounds, short brown hair and a tattoo of “Celtic Keys” on the back of his neck.
