The focus of an Enderby manhunt has been located.
RCMP officers took a suspect into custody Wednesday after he allegedly eluded police Nov. 3 by jumping into the frigid Shuswap River.
“He did attempt to run again but there were enough members there, plus the police dog, so he decided to give up without incident,” said Gord Molendyk, RCMP spokesperson.
“Most people realize they can’t outrun the police dog.”
On Nov. 3, at about midnight, police attempted to arrest the individual on an outstanding warrant but he evaded capture by allegedly jumping into the river at the downtown bridge.
He was last seen about a mile downstream and Search and Rescue was called to the scene in case the suspect drowned.
However, the search was called off Nov. 4 when police learned that the man had been seen by acquaintances.
He had been sought by officers until Wednesday afternoon.
“Officers were doing inquiries and they pinpointed him to a residence,” said Molendyk of the arrest.
Cameron Christen, 34, was expected to appear in court Thursday on charges relating to the outstanding warrant.
Molendyk says there is also the possibility of charges for resisting arrest.
