Enrolment at North Thompson schools is up by about 1.6 per cent this year, according to numbers released during a school board meeting held Monday.
The increase mirrors a similar small increase seen across School District 73, and is in contrast to the steady decreases seen over the past number of years.
The number of students at Clearwater Secondary School went up from 183 at the end of October in 2015 to 201 at the same time this year, an increase of 18.
At Raft River Elementary, enrolment went from 278 at the end of October last year to 285 this year, an increase of seven.
Vavenby Elementary has remained at seven students last year and this year.
Enrolment at Blue River Elementary, always a concern, was 13 last year and eight this year, a decrease of five.
Moving south in the valley, enrolment at Barriere Secondary was 158 at the end of October last year and is now 145, a decrease of 13 students.
At Barriere Elementary, however, the number of students went from 238 last fall to 245 this year, an increase of seven.
Total enrolment for the six schools in the North Thompson Valley went from 877 at the end of October, 2015 to 891 at the end of October this year, an increase of 14.
