Envision Financial’s Get a Meal Give a Meal program raises $530 for Chilliwack Food Bank

The program also brought customers to local restaurants struggling during the COVID pandemic

A pilot project by Envision Financial has produced a $530 donation for the Chilliwack Community Food Bank.

Over two months, the ‘Get a Meal Give a Meal’ program gave support to local restaurants struggling during the COVID pandemic, while also generating aid for the food bank. Any time an Envision Financial member made an order of $50 or more at a participating restaurant, they received a $25 discount, and each transaction also triggered a $5 donation to the local food bank.

The program generated over $5,300 in revenue for Chilliwack restaurant partners.

“Envision Financial ran a great program at a critical point for our business,” said Karl Gibson, manager at Hana Sushi in Chilliwack and a ‘Get a Meal Give a Meal’ participant. “It’s not really about the numbers of what we took in, but the numbers that went out to local food banks.”

The program ran in several Lower Mainland communities, generating $2,040 in donations to food banks.

While the program’s approach was new this year, ‘Give a Meal Get a Meal’ supported Envision Financials’ signature cause, known as ‘The Full Cupboard.’ Aimed at raising food, funds and awareness about hunger in communities, ‘The Full Cupboard’ has raised over $69,000 for food banks so far in 2020. More than $920,000 has been donated over the program’s seven-year history.

“We’ve seen the significant effects of COVID-19 across our social sector and we ran this program with the aim of bringing the community together in support of our food banks and local restaurants,” said Envision Financial president Dave Lanphear. “The community’s strong reception of the program was incredible to see, and we couldn’t be prouder of how our community rallied together in support of an important and timely cause.”
