Epic rematch planned for Coy Cup final

The Terrace River Kings will face off against the Fort St. John Flyers, the team they beat in OT of game one, tonight at 8 p.m.

Going into the Coy Cup tournament, the Terrace River Kings knew the Fort St. John Flyers would be the team to beat.

And now, after a 10-3 trouncing of tournament hosts the Fort Nelson Yeti in last night’s semi finals by the Flyers, the two teams who faced off in a thrilling game one, which ended in an OT win for the Kings, will be at it again in the championship game tonight at 8 p.m.

The River Kings have dubbed themselves the “comeback kids” of the AA senior men’s provincial hockey tournament after coming back from first period deficits in games one, two, and three to ultimately prevail.

Currently undefeated at the tournament, the team earned a bye after Thursday night’s 5-3 win over Fort Nelson and are heading into the final after a day’s rest.

The game will be broadcast live on Moose FM out of Fort St. John tonight at 8 p.m. and the Terrace River Kings’ Facebook page will have updates and photos.
