Ervin Charleyboy elected as Chief

In a very close race Ervin Charleyboy was elected as Chief of the Alexis Creek First Nation during an election held Friday.

In a very close race Ervin Charleyboy was elected as Chief of the Alexis Creek First Nation during an election held Friday.

Charleyboy garnered 54 votes, Clayton John Charleyboy 51 votes and Otis Guichon Sr. received 42 votes.

Former Chief Percy Guichon who chose not to run for Chief was elected to band council along with Otis Sr. Guichon, Maryanne Boyd, Rocky Guichon, Clayton Charleyboy and Terry Char.

Boyd is a newcomer to council while the others are returning members.

Charleyboy could not be reached for an interview this morning as the community is busy today with a funeral for the late Elder Elizabeth Char.
