Provincial Emergency Social Services (ESS) is requiring evacuees to work with their insurance provider to obtain further financial support.
Contact the Insurance Bureau of Canada (IBC) for help: http://www.ibc.ca/bc/disaster/bcwildfire, 1-844-2ask-IBC, or AskIBCWest@ibc.ca.
IBC staff will answer insurance-related questions and help affected residents get in touch with their insurance representative to begin the claims process.
If you are an evacuee and don’t have insurance, in order to receive further ESS support, register at your local reception centre so that they can assess your needs to see if you are eligible for additional funding.
The Salmon Arm Emergency Reception Centre will be open through the weekend from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. to re-register evacuees at the Prestige Harbourfront Hotel at 251 Harbourfront Dr. NE.
Evacuees who have not yet registered with the Red Cross, should do so at http://www.redcross.ca/…/current-eme…/british-columbia-fires or call 1-800-863-6582.
