Several Westbank Shopping Centre businesses are getting together to support the Westside Community Food Bank as Hunger Awareness Week draws to a close.
Blenz Coffee, Thredz Clothing and Off the Dock, along with West Kelowna Fire Rescue, are organizing an event that will take place Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
“We’re encouraging people to bring down cash or food donations,” said Melissa Brown of Blenz Coffee Westbank Centre.
The food bank will have its truck parked in the Westbank Shopping Centre mall, located at 3645 Gosset Rd., to accept donations throughout the day.
Several Summerland artists will be on hand, painting and auctioning off their art. The proceeds from those sales will be given to the Westside Community Food Bank.
A handful of musicians have also signed up to provide entertainment at the coffee shop throughout the day.
From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Blenz Coffee will feature live music by Theresa Bishop. From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., West Kelowna firefighters, along with Sparky the Fire Dog, will be on location giving tours of their fire truck. Cynthia Leigh-Ann and special guests will provide entertainment at Blenz Coffee from 1 to 5 p.m.
