• As far as family events go, the fireworks held at Qualicum Beach Saturday night could stand as a good example.
Oceanside RCMP Corporal Jesse Foreman said while there was a strong police presence at the event, everyone behaved themselves.
“We had two dedicated members there and between 9:30 and 10:30 p.m. three traffic members joined for a foot patrol,” he said. “There were absolutely no problems and everyone was extremely well-behaved.”
It was a welcome development, he added.
“It made us happy that nobody got carried away or out of control and traffic cleared out without problems,” Foreman said. “It was an extremely great family event.”
