Excessive speeding on highway continues to be a problem

100 Mile House RCMP clamping down on lead-footed fools

100 Mile RCMP responded to 53 complaints and calls for service in the past week.

 

Speeding drivers

100 Mile Traffic Services stopped five vehicles for excessive speeding during the past week at various locations on Highway 97.

The speeds ranged from 47 to 55 km/h over the posted speed limit. All of these incidents resulted in the vehicles being impounded for seven days.

 

Trailers stolen

On Nov. 6, 100 Mile RCMP received a report that a Super B Tandem logging trailer with B.C. licence plates 58758C and 58759C was taken sometime during October 2011 from the industrial area on Exeter Road in 100 Mile House.

Boozer walking

On Nov. 6, 100 Mile RCMP stopped the driver of a blue Cavalier for failing to stop at a stop sign on Birch Avenue in 100 Mile House.

The driver displayed symptoms of having consumed liquor. An approved screening device was administered at the location, with the result being a fail.

The driver met the criteria and was subsequently issued a 90-day immediate roadside driving prohibition and the vehicle was impounded for 30 days.
