Maintenance projects are planned for throughout Glacier National Park this summer.

You may have noticed the ad last week from Parks Canada about the infrastructure work happening in Mount Revelstoke & Glacier National Parks.

“When visiting or driving through Mount Revelstoke and Glacier national parks, you may encounter construction zones or reduced services while we complete this important work. Please plan ahead before you travel to avoid inconvenience,” the ad stated.

Well, to help you even more, we asked Parks Canada for their summer construction schedule. Here’s what we got back:

— Construction from the Illecillewaet corner to the Hermit trailhead in Glacier National Park will take place May to October. The work will cover nine kilometres of highway and will include the addition of a westbound passing lane, improved access and guardrail installation. Expect single-lane alternating traffic, with delays of up to 30 minutes while work takes place. Fortunately, daytime lane closures will not take place during July and August.

— A 5.5-kilometre section of the highway from the Beaver Valley picnic area to the Beaver Valley bridge, will be paved. Work is scheduled set for June to October 2016. Expect single-lane alternating traffic, except during the day in July and August.

— Work will take place to repair snowsheds and install lighting from June to October 2016. Once again, expect single-lane alternating traffic, with 30 minute delays, except during the day in July and August.

— A retaining wall is being rebuilt near the east boundary of Mount Revelstoke National Park in May and June. While there will be no lane closures, 30 minute delays and reduced speed limits should be expected.

— Guardrails will be replaced along a 12-kilometre stretch of highway near the east boundary of Mount Revelstoke National Park in September and October. Expect single-lane alternating traffic with delays of up to 30 minutes and a reduced speed limit.

— Off the highway, extensive trail work is scheduled for this summer. Trails will remain open, but there’s a good chance you’ll see work crews while you’re out and about.

We asked the BC Ministry of Transportation and Emcon Services about their maintenance plans for this summer, but did not get a response.

A complete list of all planned work for the national parks  can be found on their respective websites.
