Drivers should expect single-lane traffic in each direction on Dogwood Street between 7th and 4th avenues as the city replaces a watermain this summer.
Construction work will take place in this three-block span from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday to Friday, throughout July and August.
“While this work is underway, we ask drivers to please follow flaggers directing traffic, and we thank everyone for their patience during this temporary change,” says Jason Hartley, the city’s capital works manager.
Approximately 565 metres of watermain will be replaced to increase water volume for domestic use and fire suppression.
The work is being done by Upland Excavating Ltd. and McElhanney Consulting Services Ltd. Funding for this project comes from the city’s water capital reserve, which is funded through utility fees rather than property taxation.
