A man dubbed the “Falconridge rapist” for terrorizing a Calgary neighbourhood seven years ago, wants to take his latest charges of a violent carjacking to trial.
Wearing the standard red jumpsuit, with tattoos up both arms, Andrew Aurie Jefferson, 28, appeared in the prisoner’s box in Surrey Provincial Court on Monday for what was to be a bail hearing.
But, through his lawyer, Dave Gable, Jefferson consented to remain behind bars instead.
Jefferson is facing two counts of robbery, uttering threats, possession of property obtained by crime, assault causing bodily harm, and assault with a weapon in connection with the June 8 carjacking in Langley City.
In that case, he is accused of approaching a woman with a knife and demanding the keys to her car.
He was arrested just minutes later, a short distance away.
While living in Calgary Jefferson was convicted of raping two women at knifepoint and assaulting another.
He moved to Surrey after his release from jail in 2012, outraging the mayor at the time.
He is also charged with breaching his release conditions.
He makes his next court appearance on Dec. 19 for a trial confirmation hearing.
