A veteran politician is preparing to keep busy.
Rene Talbot was elected to another term as Falkland director for the Columbia-Shuswap Regional District during Saturday’s civic election.
“I am happy to have the opportunity to complete a number of projects,” said Talbot, director since 2002.
Talbot received 280 votes while Kelly Stalker got 184 votes.
Among the initiatives that Talbot wants to focus on over the next four years are the Gardom Lake management plan and a regional district agricultural stategy.
He also wants to lobby the Ministry of Transportation for Highway 97 changes in downtown Falkland.
“They bumped up the speed limit signs (to 90 kilometres an hour) on the edge of town,” he said.
“There is always a problem with speeders and there is no enforcement.”
Of the about 4,000 voters in Falkland-Salmon Valley-Deep Creek, 464 cast ballots Saturday.
“The numbers were pretty low but I appreciate the efforts of those who took the time to vote,” said Talbot.
