A Falkland man has been given a jail term for his marijuana grow operation.

Luu Dinh Vu, now 54, was sentenced to 18 months in jail in Vernon Supreme Court for possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Vu was arrested in January 2011 after RCMP officers executed a search warrant at his property in the 2800 block of Heywood-Armstrong Road in Falkland. The search located 1,854 marijuana plants in a shop on the property, and another 864 marijuana plant clones were located in a bedroom of the home.

Officers confiscated more than 2,700 plants from Vu’s property.

The justice also gave Vu a 10-year firearms prohibition and ordered him to provide a DNA sample. Vu’s property will be subject to forfeiture.
