A man has been arrested and taken to hospital for assessment following a family disturbance in Salmon Arm Sunday afternoon.
The Salmon Arm RCMP were called to an address in the 1500 Block of 20th Avenue NE at approximately 2:50 p.m.
The call involved a man who was having a medical issue and had been in possession of a firearm.
There were at least four RCMP members called to the scene. Once there, police were able to quickly speak to the man and ensure public safety.
As a result of the conversations with police, the man was convinced to surrender peacefully at approximately 4 p.m.
He was taken into custody without further incident. The man was then transported to hospital for treatment of pre-existing medical issues.
The RCMP investigation into the incident is continuing.
As a result of the police response, local traffic was diverted at the time of the incident.
