Family of border jumpers arrested in Abbotsford

Husband, wife and son try to illegally cross the Canada-U.S. border.

Three border jumpers from India were arrested in Abbotsford on Sunday and have been turned over to Canada Border Services Agency.

Const. Ian MacDonald said Abbotsford Police received a call from border patrol at 7:20 p.m. that three people had been spotted walking across the border from the U.S. into Canada. They were in the vicinity of Defehr Road, located between Bradner and Ross roads in Abbotsford.

Police found the trio hiding under some trees on a property in the 400 block of Defehr.

Arrested were a 42-year-old man, his 40-year-old wife and their 14-year-old son.
