A rural Enderby man is dead following an accident on a farm.
Emergency services personnel were called to a farm in the 1400 block of Enderby-Mabel Lake Road shortly after noon Friday.
“Initial indications are that a 53-year-old man was in the process of changing a tire on a large piece of irrigation equipment, the piece that holds the large reel with all of the pipe that goes around it, when it fell on him, pinning him underneath it,” said Gord Molendyk, RCMP spokesperson, Monday.
“The man died at the scene.”
WorkSafe B.C. has identified the equipment as a ty-crop irrigation wheel, and has suggested that a jack being used to change the tire shifted, causing the equipment to fall on the man.
WorkSafe B.C., which is investigating the file now along with the coroner, said the man was working alone and that there were no witnesses to the accident.
No name has been released at this point but Molendyk indicated that family members were on the scene.
Molendyk said police have reason to believe he is the owner of the farm.
