FARMERS’ AND FLEA MARKETS OPEN

The South Cariboo Farmers’ Market opened on May 12 in and around the 100 Mile Community Hall. The Market runs every Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. until Sept. 29. Other markets have opened as well such as the Saturday Market at the Loon Bay Resort and the Interlakes Economic Association’s Farmers’ Market (See the photos in Diana Forster’s column on B4 for more information). Additionally, starting on May 27, every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. there will be a Heritage Market at the 108 Heritage Site until Sept. 9, the first of which will also be accompanied by a flea market.

NEW HORSE LAKE PRINCIPAL

Ty Lytton, Vice Principal of Peter Skene Ogden Secondary School, has been transferred to Horse Lake Elementary School as Principal effective May 20. Taking over for Maria Telford who’s on maternity leave.

AGE FRIENDLY HOUSING REPORT

The highly anticipated Age Friendly Society of the South Cariboo’s South Cariboo 55+ Housing Report’s key findings will be available on Monday, May 29 at the District Council Chambers during an open house from 1 to 4 p.m. with opening speeches starting at 1 p.m. The report is expected to provide key insights into the housing needs of the South Cariboo.
