SMALL BUSINESS COUNTS RISE
According to B.C.’s Small Business Quarterly Report, released March 20, small business counts in B.C. rose from 184,035 in December 2015 to 188,057 in December 2016.
In the Cariboo (Incl. Prince George, Williams Lake and Quesnel.), small business numbers rose from 2,457 in December 2015 to 2,493 in December 2016. However, small business numbers were still down in the Cariboo from December 2014 when they were at 2,506. A small business is defined as 1-49 employees.
SCHOOL DISTRICT BYELECTION MARCH 25
The School District #27 Zone three byelection is March 25. The candidates are Cameron Jenson and Willow MacDonald. On voting day, use the Fourth St. entrance at the District office at 385 Birch Ave. Voting will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Advance voting was on March 15.
The byelection is being called to fill the position of former Zone 3 Trustee Chris Pettman who submitted his resignation effective Dec. 30.
RURAL DIVIDEND FUND
Applications for funding under the recently extended BC Rural Dividend will be accepted from April 3 to May 31. Funding is available in four categories, including community capacity building, workforce development, community and economic development and business sector development.
