Sooke RCMP and BC Ambulance Services were called to attend a report of man down under the Sooke River bridge on the morning of February 24. Upon attendance, emergency personnel determined the 62-year-old Sooke resident, who is known to police, was deceased.
According to police it appeared the man had been there overnight, and that alcohol was a factor.
Foul play is not suspected and the matter is still under investigation by RCMP and BC Coroners Service.
An autopsy was planned to take place on February 25.
