Female youth arrested for assaulting man

The Terrace RCMP responded to approximately 83 calls for service from Dec.11, 8 a.m. until Dec.14, 8 a.m.

The Terrace RCMP responded to approximately 83 calls for service from Dec.11, 8 a.m. until Dec.14, 8 a.m. During the same time period eighteen people were lodged in Terrace cells. Fifteen of these people were lodged for intoxication.

Here are some of the calls responded to:

  • Staff of Safeway arrested a man for shoplifting. The man attempted to kick and hit the staff, who held him down on the ground. Police arrested the 52 yr old man who contoured to be verbally aggressive and make attempts to pull away from police to get at the staff. Charges are being forwarded to Crown Counsel.
  • A man passed out in the lobby of a motel on Lakelse Ave. Checks determined that the man was breaching a condition of an undertaking of not to consume alcohol. The 44 yr old man was arrested and was held for court.
  • Hit and run to a grey 2012 GMC Sierra truck parked at the Casino. Investigation led police to observing a likely suspect vehicle with damage to its rear passenger tail light. Under investigation.
  • A woman passed out in the washroom of a restaurant on Park Ave. Checks determined that she was breaching condition of not to consume alcohol. She also had four outstanding warrants. The 18 yr old woman was arrested and is held for court.
  • An eastbound grey 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and a westbound blue 2015 Ford F 250 clipped mirrors on Hwy 16 at the 155 km marker. The evasive manoeuver of the Chevy prevented a head on collision when the Ford crossed the centre line into oncoming traffic. BC Ambulance was called to transport the driver of the Ford to Mills Memorial Hospital for a medical issue.
  • A black 2008 Dodge Caliber struck a pedestrian in the crosswalk at Kalum St/Loen Ave. BC Ambulance transported the pedestrian to Mills Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.
  • Police observed a man using the ATM lobby of the Royal Bank as a shelter. When police dumped out the man’s bottle of cider, he started to yell and swear at police. He was arrested.
  • A vehicle stuck on the railway tracks with a flat tire 60 km west of Terrace. A passing motorist pulled the car off the tracks, assisted with changing the flat tire, and then followed the elderly driver to a service station in Prince Rupert to ensure his safety.
  • Two intoxicated men sitting at the bus shelter on Park Ave/Sparks St. Upon arrival one of the men yelled and swore at police and would not quiet down when directed to. He was arrested. Police woke up the second man and offered to transport him to the damp shelter. While walking to the police car the man began to yell at a passerby. He was also arrested.
  • A curfew check was conducted on a youth. He was not home. Under investigation.
  • A curfew check was conducted on a man. Investigation determined that he was at his residence but had breached his curfew numerous times. Charges are being forwarded to Crown Counsel on the 37 yr old man.
  • Alarm at the Library. A large glass window on the north side of the building was broken, just the outer pane. Under investigation.
  • A blue Ford truck went off road on Hwy 16 about 50 km east of Terrace. A Highway worker found the driver and passenger sleeping in the truck. When woken up, the driver attempted to punch the Highway worker. The driver had suffered a head wound and was transported to Mills Memorial Hospital via BC Ambulance. The passenger had to be cut out of the vehicle and had suffered minor injuries as well. Alcohol was involved.
  • AWOL patient from Mills Memorial Hospital. Police located the person and transported them back.
  • A woman failed to pay her cab fare. A civil agreement was reached.
  • A white and grey Samsung Galaxy S6 phone was stolen at a school. Under investigation.
  • A grey 2002 Honda Civic parked on Olson Ave was broken into during the night of December 11/12. No damage to the vehicle. A Lenova Syncpad laptop and a long turquoise wallet containing cash, ID, and various cards were stolen. The cards were found up the street on the side of the road.
  • Domestic assault. A man suffered a minor injury to his face. A female youth was arrested. Charges are being forwarded to Crown Counsel.
  • Shoplifting at Safeway. Police observed security footage and identified the thief. The 47 yr old man was arrested and charges are being forwarded to Crown Counsel.
  • Two dogs were struck on Hwy 37 on the Airport Hill. One dog died immediately as a result of injuries received. The second dog had suffered extensive serious injuries and was shot by police. The owners of the dogs arrived shortly after and police provided assistance in removing them. The vehicle had sustained extensive damage and was towed.
