Through the leadership of head swim coach Aidan Chudleigh, the Fernie Academy Swim Team made competitive waves at the Kootenay Zone Swim Meet on October 24 at the Fernie Aquatic Centre.

Chudleigh explained that there were eight schools from around the region that came for the one-day meet; Golden, Grand Forks, Jl Crowe, LV Rogers, Rossland Summit, Selkirk, Stanley Humphries, and Fernie Academy.

“It was a very good high school swim meet,” said Chudleigh.

“Swimmers were competing to basically win the banner for their high school, and make it to the High School Provincials. The Fernie Academy did very well. They ended up sweeping the boys and girls. They won all but one division, and became the Kootenay region swimming high school champions. It was the first time in school history.”
