It was corny, and it kept visitors to the Kelowna Farmers’ and Crafters’ Market smiling from ear to ear on Saturday morning.
During the festival of corn, ears of fresh corn were cooked up, slathered in butter and handed out in exchange for a donation to the Gospel Mission, and it was a great success.
“People are loving it,” said Matthew Reimer, the Mission’s kitchen co-ordinator, who volunteered his serving services Saturday morning.
“They’re eating the corn, then asking ‘where can I buy it, it’s delicious,'” he said.
The corn came from a number of vendors who donated some ears for the fundraiser and by day’s end their efforts amounted to $326.50 to benefit those who use the mission’s services.
